Dehradun: Indian Army Chief General Bipin Singh Rawat on Saturday said youth in Kashmir are being misled to take wrong path.

While attending the Passing Out Parade held at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun, the Army Chief said, "Youth in Kashmir are being instigated by a misinformation and disinformation campaign being run on social media.”

“Youths there (Valley) are misleaded to take wrong path. We always try that youth, who are misled, should drop their weapons and come with us,” the Army Chef said.

Jammu and Kashmir has been on the boil since the killing of Hizbul Mujahideen militant Burhan Wani in July last year.

Kashmir has been witnessing frequent clashes between security forces and stone-pelting mobs since then.

'Indian Army will appoint women in military police first'
The Army Chief said the force needed women in combat positions to tackle the women members of the public, often encountered during operations.

Women will first be inducted in military police before combat positions in the force, General Rawat asserted.

After reviewing the parade at the Chetwode drill square, General Rawat addressed the 67 foreign Gentlemen Cadets from 10 foreign countries and also led to the culmination of training of 423 Indian Gentlemen Cadets. While addressing the passing cadets, General Rawat congratulated and welcomed them in the team by boosting up their confidence and enthusiasm to work in this field.
